Our History: From Crawford Street to "The Road"

The story of Franklin Road Church of Christ is one of faith, growth, and a deep commitment to serving our community. Our journey began in the humble setting of a private home on Crawford Street in Pontiac, Michigan, during the 1940s. A small but dedicated group of believers gathered there, planting the seeds of what would become our beloved church family.

As our congregation grew, so did our vision. By the late 1960s, we were blessed to relocate to our current home at 1400 Franklin Road. This move marked a significant milestone, allowing us to expand our ministry and better serve the needs of our community. It was here that we became affectionately known as "The Road," a name that reflects the warm and welcoming spirit of our church.

Throughout our history, our core values have remained steadfast. We are a family of loving and caring members, dedicated to sharing the life-changing teachings of Jesus Christ. Our mission is built upon three pillars:

  • Reaching Lost Souls: We are passionate about sharing the Gospel and bringing others to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, fulfilling the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20.
  • Edifying the Saved: We strive to nurture and strengthen the faith of our members, equipping them to live as devoted followers of Christ, as outlined in Ephesians 4:12.
  • Meeting the Needs of the Community: We believe that faith without action is dead. We are committed to demonstrating Christ's love through acts of service, including feeding the hungry, praying for the sick, visiting the imprisoned, clothing the naked, and assisting the underprivileged, as exemplified in Matthew 25:34-39.

Today, Franklin Road Church of Christ continues to be a place where individuals of all backgrounds can find spiritual growth, build meaningful connections, and make a positive impact. We invite you to join us as we continue to grow in faith, serve our community, and glorify God. We are dedicated to continuing the mission that began on Crawford Street so many years ago, and we look forward to the future God has planned for "The Road."

Giving is the practice of sacrificing a portion of one’s income, often a tenth, as as act of faith to support our efforts in spreading the Gospel of Christ and community outreach efforts.”
